Naptime Nanny Review & #giveaway ends 2/29
5:52 PM
Look at the little gems of awesomeness that arrived in my mailbox yesterday:
I cannot express how much I love discovering (and reviewing)great products! Especially when I get to do a giveaway along with them and share the awesome product with one of you. This particular product is one I had not heard of until I was asked to review it, and boy am I glad I was asked! What a fantastic product!
What is it?
Naptime Nanny products are CD's with over an hour of naptime quiet time stories. The first 2 volumes contain fairy tales and the third has Christmas stories. This is what Naptime Nanny says about their products:
Naptime Nanny strives to provide teachers and parents with quality tools for helping young children experience a quiet resting time through a medium that allows the child to assimilate important life skills without interfering with the resting process.
What did I think?
Let me first tell you all that my little Kindle Cat (my 3 year old) believes she is too old for naps. I disagree. However, I usually don't make her sleep, because instead of sleeping, she screams and keeps the baby awake during his nap and causes all kinds of grumpiness for the day (from both me and the baby). When my older kids are home, I send them to read quietly in the afternoon when the baby naps so I can get things done, and he can sleep. However, Miss Kindle cannot read and would much rather harass her baby brother.
This afternoon, as with most afternoons, the older 3 kids were at school, and Kindle , baby and I were home. I needed to get some painting done for the house, so I needed the kids to be "napping". Kindle was not going to go for that today, so I told her I had a really neat new CD for her to listen to quietly. We turned it on and for the next hour or so, she was completely enthralled. She listened quietly and loved the stories. She did not bother the sleeping baby at all!!!
She would like for me to tell you all that the CD's were "Great!" (She listened to the first 2 today already and we will whip out the Christmas one tomorrow-by her request).
I liked that the stories were told pretty traditionally, but with little modern updates. Like in Goldilocks, when she got lost, she had learned her address and phone number, and was just looking for a place to use a phone to call home (or to call 911 and get help from the police). It gives real life examples of what kids SHOULD do.
I also loved that parts of the story that kids may not know were explained. Like "Goldilocks" was called "goldilocks" because her hair was yellow like gold and locks is another word for hair. There are also moments where the storyteller on the CD says things like "Of Course, as I am sure you have figured out..." I love that it gives the kids credit for having likely figured out where the story was going in advance.
Where can you get these gems?
Check out all three great CD's on the Naptime Nanny website. (You can even hear a story sample here.)
What could you win?
One lucky Beckee's Deals reader will win one of the 3 Naptime Nanny CD's (of the winners choice). NICE!
