Happy Valentines Day...though I don't really celebrate it...

Happy Valentines Day!

You may have noticed that I have not written much about Valentines Day. I have to admit, I am not much a fan of it now that I am an old married lady. When I was a young dater, I LOVED it because it was a day when whoever I was dating HAD to do something nice for me and show his "love". Now, I don't much care for the manufactured holiday and here is why: My husband really makes EVERYDAY like Valentines! He does not need an excuse to buy me nice things or to show his love! It is awesome! He is quite the catch!

The other reason I am not a fan...COST! I know you can do a cheap, nice Valentines Day. But guess what? TOMORROW (the Day AFTER Valentines) you will be able to make a killing on flowers, chocolates, etc. NICE. I am all about waiting a day and getting the clearance stuff...we can have our own Valentines Day tomorrow and I will spend much less money on the same things.

Also, going out on Valentines Day is just a nightmare for me. First I am somehow supposed to fight every other couple in the area to get one of the 5 babysitters that is not also trying to go out with their current boy/girl friend. It is hard enough for me to get a babysitter on a regular night (really, I know maybe 6 possible babysitters nearby and they can each only take so much of my 4 kids aged 8 and under). Then, I somehow have to get a reservation at a nice restaurant OR go try to get in to one of the ones that does not take reservations (again with all other couples out there). Oh man how I HATE waiting for a table at a restaurant! I H.A.T.E. it.

BUT that being said, I love that on any random day, I can count on my Wesley to show up at home with some sort of gift he thought I would like. That on any given day he might take me out to eat at a nice restaurant just to make my day easier (no cooking dinner!!). That he always tells me he loves me and does little nice things for me!

So, my opinions aside, I say Happy Valentines to all of you celebrating your own love today, and I DO love my husband and my kids! I hope you have fun celebrating in whatever way you like, but as for me and my house, we will celebrate with clearance items tomorrow!! :)
