Because I Tried it Birthday Chronicle Review

I am a sucker for sentimental/memory items. I love photo books, journals, baby books or really anything like that. Trouble is, I am not that great at keeping them. In fact I have had 5 children, and the I tried to remember to get a newspaper from the day each one was born, but guess what? I only have one from the first child. So, when I was asked to review a Birthday Chronicle from Because I Tried It, I was ecstatic.

Let me tell you a little about Because I Tried It.

First and foremost, they provide Personalized Gifts for Anyone, Anytime. I reviewed their Birthday Chronicle, but that is just one of many, MANY items they have available. Check out the extensive list of personalized products here. Oh and by the way-they will get your personalized gift to you via email within 48 hours. Yeah-it's that quick!

Let me tell you about my Birthday Chronicle!

I decided to use my birthday for this review (because I could not choose which kid to do). Check out the Chronicle:

I love that is includes things like who was President, Famous people that share my birthday, who won the Academy Awards that year, and What my Chinese New Year symbol is (Horse). It has a lot of interesting facts and is presented as a newspaper front page. Oh and did I mention I had it in my email the day after I sent the information out? It was SUPER FAST!

I really like my Birthday Chronicle and will probably order one for each of my children's birthday's as well. It is so perfect for a baby book!

Let me tell you where you can connect with Because I Tried It.

Roots Only Helped my hide my age (Review)

Admission: My hair is rapidly growing in gray...yes I said it, my hair is basically gray now. I, however am SOOO not ready to let that happen, so I dye my hair. Often. About every 6 weeks. Really! Look at how gray my hair was a few days ago (take special note of the new growth):

So, I dye my hair. A Lot..to hide gray hair. But the last 2 times I dyed my hair I did not have a good way to get the roots well so the gray was still showing quite a bit. So, you can imagine my excitement and joy when I was asked to review this product:

That's right Roots Only is an awesome applicator that you can use with your hair dye or hair conditioners. And it is reusable!!

What is the Deal?

Here is the information about the product and company as provided to me:

Roots Only Incorporated is a woman-owned business based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We distribute personal applicators and products that simplify home hair care routines of our customers. Our patented, delivery applicator is ideal for the application of hair color, conditioning growth oil, medicated shampoo and other solutions for the scalp and roots. We manufacture high quality, affordable products that save you time and money while offering professional results. All Roots Only brand products are reusable and 100% made in the USA.

What did I think?

Well, I took a short video of me trying it out (it skips a bit, but you can see how easy using the product is!):

You should note the number of times in the video I mention how easy it is. Because my main point here is that this is easy to use! And it really helped me to get the dye throughout my hair! Here are a few pictures of me dying my hair and using the Roots Only applicator:

And here is a picture of my hair right before dying:

And right after:

And even a few days later-still not gray showing through! So the applicator really got the roots and the gray WELL!!

One more thing to mention is that it is REALLY easy to rinse out so I can use it again. My bottle is all ready for me to use again next time!

Bottom Line?

This is a great applicator product that can really help of you have a similar problem to mine (IE gray roots!!). If you dye your hair and want an easy reusable product that WILL get your roots well, I recommend trying this out!

Where can you get it?

You can purchase it at the Roots Only website in 1, 2 or 3 packs for $5.99-$15.

Thanks for reading and please note that I was given a product free of charge to try out for the sake of a review. I was not compensated in any other way, and as always all opinions expressed are my own!

slice™ Safety Cutter - Great for couponers (A couponers #Review!)

Who here has heard of slice™ Safety Cutter - Great for couponers?! I just recently heard of it and I need to tell you my story about it!

I have been a bad girl lately and have been ignoring my coupons. Seriously. It has been a hassle for me to sit there and cut them out when I have been busy and as a result, my coupon binder was a mess. However, I was sent a sweet little item to review that motivated me to do something about it!

I was sent The Slice™ Safety Cutter (which is said to be Great for Couponers) to review. As mentioned, my coupon binder was a wreck so I seized the opportunity and decided to clean out and update the binder. That means I got rid of lots of expired coupons then had a lot of new unclipped coupon inserts to cut out. There were so many coupons to cut this morning!!! Usually when I do this, it takes a good hour and my hands are sore from the scissors when I get done!

This time however, I used The Slice™ Safety Cutter and it was SOOO quick and easy. I did make the mistake of putting the cutter directly on my wood tray table at first which means I cut into it a bit. Oops...after that I used my noggin and grabbed my clean cutting board and cut the remaining coupons on the cutting board with The Slice™ Safety Cutter. It cut my coupons out quickly and easily and "cut" my coupon clipping time in half! Best part: my hand was NOT sore at the end! Frankly I think this is a MUST HAVE for couponers! Really!

Now I know you moms out there are wondering how this blade could cut so well and NOT be a danger to the children around. Well, it has a "Finger Friendly Design" that makes it safe for kids-in fact my kids will be using this for future school projects instead of scissors! Look at my finger pressed against mine:

In that picture you can probably see that it is a small item as well, so you can easily keep it with you in a purse or wallet. Mine is tucked nicely into my newly cleaned up coupon binder:

I Love this product for so many reasons! It is safe for the kids, perfect for coupons and small so I can carry it with me. I imagine it would make scrapbookers as happy as it has made this couponer...in fact there are SOOO many things that would be easier with this sweet little product!

You should go check out the slice™ Safety Cutter! It is a worthwhile investment in my book! Highly recommend!

Review/Giveaway for Budget Friendly Family Vacation Timeshare Rentals

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Growing up some of my best family memories took place at Snowbird ski resort in Utah. We went there annually with my mom's side of the family and it was always a good time. As a child I did not know or understand that this great yearly opportunity was due to a time share. Now I have learned the beauty of a time share!

What is it?

Do you know what a time share is? According to Wikipedia :
"A timeshare is a form of ownership or right to the use of a property, or the term used to describe such properties. These properties are typically resort condominium units, in which multiple parties hold rights to use the property, and each sharer is allotted a period of time (typically one week, and almost always the same time every year) in which they may use the property."
My families timeshare was a week we had annually where we "owned" a certain unit for that week each year. There are many benefits of Timeshares, not the least of which is that is saves MONEY!! Generally timeshares are about 50% less than hotel rooms (especially when rented from the owner). They are also usually spacious and include kitchen space so you can save food money by cooking at you place of lodging.

Now, if you are like me and cannot afford to buy into a timeshare right now, you might want to look into timeshare rentals. What is that you ask? Well, sometimes an owner cannot use their week for one reason or another and they rent it out to someone else.

As I mentioned I loved our Snowbird timeshare, so I was intrigued by the idea of timeshare rentals, but I did not know where or how to find available timeshare rentals until I was asked to do this review/giveaway!

Redweek.com is a website that lists available timeshare rentals (and actually resales if you are ready to buy into a timeshare). Here is a fun fact: the "red week" in a time share is the prime week to own (like having a ski resort timeshare in the peak of ski season). It means it is "the best" and this company chose the name "Redweek" because they are striving to be the best! And I think the are doing well!!

For the purposes of this review, I was given free access to their member site for one year. I have already made use of it to research and start to plan a secret trip we may take for my birthday! Read on for more info and for a GIVEAWAY!!

What did I think of it?

Well, when I first logged on I noticed that right in the middle of the home page is “Top Timeshare Rental Destinations”. Looking through that you can easily see how inexpensive timeshare rentals can be. I was convinced of the price saving options right off and I began to search.

My husband took my birthday week in September off and told me he would like to see if we could swing it to FINALLY take our kids to Disney. We are flexible as to whether we will go to Orlando or Anaheim (probably Anaheim as we might be able to convince our families to come if we go there). So, I began searching for timeshare rentals in those 2 locations on that week. I also looked up hotels for that week.

Keep in mind we are a family of 7 so technically we would need 2 hotel rooms or a suite. Also keep in mind that these timeshare rentals are generally nice resorts and I was looking for something affordable AND nice (I do not want to stay in a cheap hot mess with my kids like I did on my honeymoon). A 2.5 star hotel was going to run me about $180 per night for our family size. I can get a luxury hotel with DVD Player, Dishwasher, Internet Access, Laundry - Dryer, Laundry - Washer, Microwave, Refrigerator - Full Size, Stereo, TV, Telephone, FREE parking, Children's pool, exercise room, spa, etc. for $175 per night. That SAVES me $5 a night AND gives me many more amenities and the ability to cook in room and save money! Not to mention it puts my family in 1 room that is spacious as opposed to 2 cramped hotel rooms.

I may not need to explicitly state this, but let me say that I am super excited to have access to this site and to find timeshare rentals for our upcoming vacation(s).

So what can you win?

Review: Personalized T-Shirts!

Recently I was asked to review a "Cheeky Monkey T shirt" from www.tshirtprinting.net. When I saw the cute shirt, I knew I had to do this. I have had the shirt now for a few weeks and have really had the chance to wear it and try it out a lot.

What is it?

It is a silk-screen printed unisex T-shirt with their mascot monkey printed on the front. It was made by www.tshirtprinting.net which is a print company that can print personalized t-shirts. This monkey design is a promotional design to show what they can do. You could actually design whatever you wanted to and have them print it for you.

Here is what they offer (directly from them):

T shirt printing specialists - the number one destination for screen printing your personalised T shirts, hooded tops, sweatshirts and workwear. We offer:

•Highly competitive pricing
•Huge selection of garments and colours
•High Quality Silk Screen Printing
•Quantities from 12 to 100,000
•Fast turnaround times

We aim to be extremely competitive without compromising on quality or service and offer quotes with no hidden costs. Due to the number of factors involved in calculating the costs it is not possible to say without knowing your requirements. For a no-obligation quote please call our friendly staff on our free phone number 0800 046 7633.
Oh and BTW, they deliver anywhere!

What did I think?

Well first, here I am wearing my shirt:

And here in an attempt at a close up.

I like my shirt. I think the monkey design is fun. But more importantly, I think the screening is holding up well to wear and washing. The T shirt itself is good quality-soft and comfortable too. It is not a light weight shirt that will fall apart nor is it a heavy hot shirt that I cannot wear in the summer. It is just the right weight.

How can you get your own personalized shirt?

Go check out their website here (there is a button for a quote on the page) or for a no-obligation quote you can call their free phone number 0800 046 7633.

Review/Mother's Day Idea: Lovely Baby & Mommy CD

Are you still looking for a Mother's Day gift for a new mom, by chance? Or for a mom of young children? If you are I think I may have found the gift for you!

Many of you know wonderful readers know that I had my 5th child 4 weeks ago. One thing you may not know about me though is that I am a music fanatic and I am always looking for good age-appropriate music for my 5 babies (ages 4 weeks-8 years old). So, I was really excited when I was given a copy of the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD from Lovely Baby Music.

What is it?

Raimond Lap, the creator of Lovely Baby, has put together 10 very sweet songs about moms in the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD. It is like a big celebration of moms and as with all Lovely Baby Music, it is intended for babies prenatal to 36+ months. The Lovely Baby & Mommy CD and the Lovely Baby & Daddy CD include lyrics, but all other Lovely Baby CD's are instrumental only.

What did we think?

First, I would like to try and speak for my 4 week old baby who has sat quietly on my lap, wide awake for the last hour just listening to the music without fussing. I think his quiet sweet coos are telling me he likes it. He is so calm right now, and I believe it is because of the soothing music playing.

I also have a 35 month old child and the first thing she said when the CD came on was "Mom, this music makes me want you to hold me." Gotta love that. Before I can tell the next thing she said, I have to mention that through the music there are baby sounds (like babies or kids saying "mommy" or giggling). My little lady said "Oh...I love that sweet baby's laugh--he's so cute like our baby."

I also have 3 kids that are ages 4, 7, and 8. This Sunday I went to church with the 5 kids and my mother-in-law. My husband was unable to come due to his work schedule, and it was my first time attempting an outing of this proportion. Our church is 3 hours long, and for 2 of those hours I teach a class of kindergartners (5-yr-olds). Needless to say, by the end, I was totally drained. And my kids were totally wired-all wanted to yell over each other on the way home and so I put on the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD. Everyone quieted down and listened to the peaceful music, and I was so glad!

Many of the CD's my kids listen to and like drive me crazy, but this one is not so bad. I thought it was good music with fair lyrics. Some of the music lyrics were better than others, in that some just made more sense to me. But what I like is that all the lyrics fit with the music style from song to song, and the lyrics are very sweet and loving toward moms. As a mom it made me get a little teary eyed occasionally. I loved the lyrics to the song called "My Closest Friend." Musically, I especially loved the song "She is A Mom." You can actually listen to the song "She is a Mom" here.

Where Can you Buy it?

To learn more about Lovely Baby Music or purchase the Lovely Baby & Mommy CD, at http://www.lovelybabycd.com/. For a limited time they even have free shipping in the US and Canada!!! You all know how much I love FREE!

ENDED SpaceRaceKids Review and giveaway-You'll love this!!

When I was asked to review this product and I read the first line in the email from the company I giggled a little. It said something about how they cannot give away a free website so they had mad up a nice poster to giveaway. Why did I giggle? Because I thought "Sure you can give away a free website-in fact it is the best kind of giveaway because every one of my readers can win!" And trust me-this is a fun, educational website that you will be glad you all "won".

What is it?

The website is http://www.spaceracekids.com/. And I cannot describe what it is any better than the company did, so please forgive me for quoting how they describe it:

Space Race is a fully animated action packed web series via www.spaceracekids.com that teaches about space and includes lots of space travel and racing -- entertaining and kid/parent friendly too.

The website has 6 webisodes ready to view and 2 more launching soon. Each of the webisodes is about 5 minutes long. It also has "play", "learn," and "share" sections with different activities within them.

Oh, and BTW-did I mention that it was directed by Emmy Award Winner Mark Risley, with each webisode hosted by “Gary Galaxy,” played by Meyer deLeeuw (who played Joe in the Blue's Clues touring show)? AND Space Race partnered with Speakaboos (the award-winning publisher of digital children’s stories) to Launch “Journey to Space Month”

What did we think of it?

You may be aware that I have 5 kids ranging in age from 3 weeks to 8 years, but you probably did not know I also have a 13 year old brother. The other day I went to http://www.spaceracekids.com/ to play around and check it out. I then had my 4 oldest kids (ages 8, 7, 4, & 2) come over to the laptop to watch a webisode and check out the website with me to see what they thought. My brother happens to be visiting us to help with the new baby and he wandered over somewhere in the middle of the first webisode as well. Let me tell you-all 5 of those kids were totally into these webisodes. I think they watched all of them right then. They were a huge hit!!

After watching the webisodes, the kids scrolled down and discovered the "play", "learn," and "share" sections, and they were in heaven. It was almost too much excitement for them, and they had a hard time taking turns. Even my teenage brother could hardly handle waiting for his next turn. They all especially wanted to find out what characters they were, color a picture, and (the most beloved part) play the 3D Space Racer Game.

Now a lot of times websites that the kids enjoy just get on my nerves and I certainly don't want to play along, but I have to admit that with this website I also had a hard time waiting my turn. I wanted to find out what character I was too! And play the games and learn about Space with my host "Gary Galaxy" (he was adorable). It really is fun for all ages.

You all need to go check out this website, and remember you are all winners as you have now been given the gift of knowledge...knowledge of an awesome website for you and your kiddos!! So, go check out http://www.spaceracekids.com/ and enjoy this free, fun and educational website!

ENDED Review and Quick Giveaway for iCaughtTheEasterBunny.com

My kids have had some very spirited conversations about the Easter Bunny. Last year the big controversy was over whether the Easter Bunny is a boy or a girl (apparently all the boys in this house believe she is a girl and all the girls think he is a boy). This year there has been some controversy as to whether the Easter Bunny is real at all...I am a firm believer in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and all things fun. My husband is a bit more of a realist and is willing to go along with the fun, but would also happily let the kids in on the secret. BUT, my husband also loves me a ton and knows how important the Easter Bunny, et al are to me and how much fun it is for me as a parent (and a child...I am pretty sure I have my parents convinced that Santa better still bring me stuff because I still believe in him!!).

My oldest 3 kids (ages 4-8) spent a good deal of time the other day trying to pin my husband down on details about the Easter Bunny that would either verify him as real or fictional. They even had theories as to WHO might be the "Easter Bunny" if in fact he was not real...luckily my husband has the deflecting skills of a ninja and was able to give them many non-answers.

And now my plan comes in!! I wanted to do something to show them that the Easter Bunny of course is real and comes to their house, so I was ecstatic this morning when I was given the opportunity to review http://www.icaughttheeasterbunny.com/! It is such an awesome site, and will help me in my desire to prove the Easter Bunny has come to our house (well, provided the kids don't read this anyway...) This website is awesome! Let me tell you how they describe their product:

Imagine the look of wonder and surprise when a child receives a photo of the Easter Bunny caught in the act in his or her very own home. iCaughtTheEasterBunny.com is a unique website that helps visitors create those memorable keepsake photos.

So, basically you can create a picture of the Easter Bunny at your house like this one I created today:

How sweet is that?!

AND it was easy to do and had SO many awesome options. You just upload your picture of your house (you could use your living room, backyard, kids bedroom, wherever you want). Then you will have lots of options-about 20 different bunny poses and you can change his size, move him where you want in the picture, rotate or flip him, etc.

Great Mothers Day Deal: Snapily Amimated Cards review and DEAL

Well, I am always on the look out for super cute and high quality photo products, so I was really excited to get the chance to learn about and review these great Animated Printed gifts from Snapily.com. I knew of Snapily.com before this, but did not realize all the products they have: photo cards, notebooks, scrapbook pages, business cards, greeting cards, and bookmarks.

As I said I was able to get a free personalized card from Snapily.com to review. Just to let you know, it was super easy to make and order this card (which is the first thing I really liked about this product). In fact, I had my lap top at the hospital with me when I had my baby 2 weeks ago. The morning after he was born, I uploaded a couple pics of him with the family, and I made the card from the hospital that morning. It was seriously easy and quick to do.

The second thing I loved was that it arrived at my house in just a few days. It was really quick!

Initially I was not sure what an animated card would be, but it is one of those cards where you have 2 pictures that change back and forth depending on how you hold the card. It may not make sense for me to explain it, so check out this flash preview here:

Sweet, right?! So, I used the 2 following pictures:

The third thing that really impressed me about these cards was the quality. This is a thick, sturdy card that is not going to fall apart. It is really nice! It is such a nice thing to have that I selfishly decided to keep it for myself rather than give it to one of the grandmas...I might have to buy a couple more cards for them!

Luckily, there is a SWEET deals I can use to get their cards, and YOU can get the same deal!! Right now Snapily.com is offering great coupon's to get your mother (or loved ones) these great Animated or 3-D cards. They are full value coupons to Snapily.com for up to 50% off! Half price for great products like the Animated cards and the 3-D Cards! How fantastic is that for the upcoming Mother's Day?! Seriously! Stop by here to get your deal and then start making your own cards at Snapily.com!!

closed Giveaway & Review: Skoy Cloths! Ends 12/30

Well, I am always looking for a better way to clean. Preferable one that is easy and less expensive than paper towels. And if I can find something more earth friendly at the same time, that is a bonus. So, of course I was super excited to get the chance to try out this great new (well new to me at least) product: SKOY eco-friendly household cleaning cloths! I was sent a super cute set of colorful SKOY cloths to try out like the ones pictured above.

First, Let me tell you about them in their words:
SKOY is an eco-friendly household cleaning cloth that outlasts 15 rolls of paper towels. This new approach to cleaning boasts a cloth that is 100% biodegradable, natural, and re-usable. The SKOY cloth has an absorption factor of 15x its own weight, which makes it far superior than any other cloth on the market. SKOY is a durable cloth that is washer and dryer safe, which means it can be used over and over again. This European-made product is non-toxic and utilizes original artwork designs to add fun as well as function to the kitchen or bathroom.

So what was my experience with them? Great! I thought they were all I had hoped-I would describe them as small but mighty! They are not that big, but they can clean up a big mess and then be rinsed and reused! You can even wash them in your dishwasher or washer/dryer if they get really messy! Some other similar products I have tried tend to fall apart quickly, but these are so durable! I have to be honest and say that even though I was given a 4 pack, I have only used one of them (for a week) and it is still going strong. And lets be honest, I am a sucker for super cute things, and these are SUPER cute (see the picture above)! I highly recommend you check them out.

How can you buy them? You can buy them at http://www.skoycloth.com/index_files/shopping.htm. They run 6.99 for a pack of 4 Cloths.

How can you WIN some? One LUCKY Beckees Deals reader will win a 4 pack of the white with flower style Skoy cloths!!
