Tropical Blend Honey Bunches of Oats Review AND Tropical Trio Giveaway

As I have mentioned before, I am a Purex Insider and as such I get to try a lot of their awesome products. Most recently I was sent some Honey Bunches of Oats Tropical Blend to try out (because Purex and HBofO is working together with Outrigger in Waikiki on a "Tropical Trio Sweepstakes"-read more about that in this review!!)

What is it?

To quote them "Take your taste buds to the Tropics!" This Tropical Blend of Honey Bunches of Oats has crispy Mango flavored flakes combined with real coconut shavings and coconut flavored granola clusters. Here are a few of the nutritional facts:

  • 10 g Whole Grains
  • 120 Calories
  • 6g sugar
  • 9 Essential Vitamins and minerals including 60% Daily Value of Iron
  • 4 Wholesome Grains
  • Heart Healthy (0g trans fat, 0.5g saturated fat, 0mg Cholesterol)
  • WIC Eligible!
What did we think?

Well, I have honestly put off posting this review because it is the first and only Honey Bunches of Oats product I have ever tried that I did not like. :( It is unfair to say I disliked it because there were parts I liked. In fact, the parts ARE what I liked. Individually, I liked each part-the mango flakes, the coconut, and the granola clusters were yummy alone, but for some reason I did not like them together.

Thas being said, ALL my family members and friends that tried them DID like them! ALL! My 5 kids and husband thought they were really good. My parents liked them and my friend I had try them also liked them. So, I am obviously an outlier on this one! My friend felt like they did have that tropical flavor you would expect from a product called Tropical Blend! She thought it reminded her of Hawaii-which is perfect because I have a contest to tell you all about!

Isn't there a giveaway?

Yep-sure is-I want some of you to get to try these for FREE, and I have 3 coupons to give away, BUT I am out of town (literally writing this at the airport). SO, I will have to set up the giveaway part when I get home and have a bit more time-be on the lookout for that coming soon!!

What can I do now while I wait for the giveaway?

Well, go enter this awesome sweepstakes I am going to tell you about! Let me quote what it is straight from Purex so I don't blow it on the details:

The Purex® brand is teaming up with Honey Bunches of Oats and Outrigger Hotels and Resorts to launch a monumental prize giveaway: The 2013 Tropical Trio Sweepstakes!*One lucky winner will be sent on a tropical paradise vacation to Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach! 20 Mule Team Borax Review & #Giveaway

Many, many years ago-in what seems a different lifetime at this point, I was a drama teacher. One of the places I worked was a summer drama camp for kids ranging in age from 5-18. Way back then, the Harry Potter books were new and we were still waiting from book to book for them to come out-there were no movies. I was asked to start a Harry Potter class at this drama camp. It was my favorite job ever-EVER!

We did all sorts of fun things-a sorting hat, played Quidditch, and had potions class (to name a few). I was a newlywed and my husband was a chemistry major in college at the time and he came in and did the potions class each session for me. Probably the favorite activity to do was to make slime out of the crazy ingredients (I think we called them like ogre snot, werewolf dandruff and unicorn sweat). BUT the actual ingredients were Water (unicorn sweat), Elmer's (or white) glue (ogre snot), and BORAX (Werewolf dandruff). That lesson was always a favorite and it made me LOVE the magic ingredient of BORAX!!

So, when my Purex family over at the Purex Insider team asked me to review Borax, I immediately flashed back to that fantastic experience in my life and JUMPED to review it!

Now here is my sad, sad admission, other than using it to make slime, I had no clue what Borax was used for, or really even what it was. So let me tell you what I have learned.

What is it?

From the info provided to me from the Purex Insider:

  • 20 Team Mule Borax is 100% natural Mineral from the earth. Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried and boxed for consumers
  • Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate
  • NOTHING is added.
What can it do for your LAUNDRY?
  • Naturally Softens hard water (water than contains calcium and magnesium) and improves detergent's cleaning power
  • Helps keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes.
Why should you care about hard water?

Hard water affects your laundry! When you add detergent to hard water, some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium granules that settle on the bottom of your washing machine, eventually retreating down the drain without cleaning your clothing at all. WASTING your detergent!

How do you use it?

Here are a few ways to use it with your laundry:
  • Add 1/2 cup of 20 Team Mule Borax to every load with your regular detergent.
  • Pretreat stains like tomato sauce, Oil/grease, grass and ground in dirt by adding 1Tablespoon  per gallon of water, or 1/2 cup in washer and pre-soak for at least 30 minutes.
Other uses for Borax:
  • Use on Carpets & rugs to get out stains
  • Clean out the Toilet bowl!!
  • Put in garbage disposals and drains
  • Use in Dishwasher to remove hard water
What did we think?
We liked it. I did notice a difference in my laundry using it to boost the detergent-I am not using as much detergent! It does clean well in the dishwasher as well! I have had only positive experiences with it! (I admit-making goo is still my favorite use for it though!)

Just go check out the 20 Mule Team Borax store locator to see where you can buy it near you!

Purex Baby Detergent Review & #Giveaway

As I have mentioned before, I am a Purex Insider and as such I get to try a lot of their awesome laundry products. Most recently I was sent some Purex Baby Detergent!

What is it?
This product is new for babies and specifically for infants! Here are a few things about it:

  • Provides same bright, white clean you expect from Purex, but is sensitive enough for baby skin!
  • Baby-inspired freshness (fragrance)
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Dermatologist-tested formula guarantees to remove stubborn stains without hurting delicate clothing (like footie pjs-yes this is SAFE detergent to use on baby footie pjs)
  • Like all Purex detergents this is formulated for use with all washers
  • AND because it is Purex, you can get the best for your baby without breaking the bank
What did we think?
We have been testing out our Purex Baby Detergent. I really like it. It works well (like all the Purex detergents I have tried), and my sensitive skinned kiddos seem to do great with it! One thing I both like and dislike is the scent. Is kind of smells similar to a lightly scented baby powder. I like that it makes me think of babies and it smells "like a baby to me." But I also dislike it in that if you use it for everyone clothes, not just baby's, then you smell like a baby all day. My hubby's scrubs smelled like he had been hanging out in the nursery all day instead of in radiology. Which is ok, but was a little odd at work.

All in all I really liked it and highly recommend it-ESPECIALLY if you DO have a baby you are washing all those little outfits for (I remember how shockingly huge the amount of laundry was after my first child was born-this would be perfect for that!!)

Where can I get it?
This is not available everywhere yet, so look for a location near you on this page before you head out to grab some.

Giveaway Time!!

AND if you have a baby, know someone with a baby or expecting a baby, I am happy to say I have a SWEET giveaway! 3 lucky Beckee's Deals readers will each win a coupon for a FREE bottle of Purex Baby Detergent. Just enter below on the Rafflecopter form.
The Terms and Conditions in the rafflecopter form says: Please note that the giveaway will end on 2/23 at 12:00 AM EASTERN time. That means you have until 11:00 PM on 2/22 Central time to get in entries (That is only 10:00 PM here in AZ). Please note that winners will be picked at random by Rafflecopter after the giveaway ends! Also, Facebook is not affiliated with this giveaway and cannot be held responsible for it in any way.

SunRype-100% AWESOME! (Review)

A couple of weeks ago this beautiful box of yumminess showed up at my door:

We were so excited to get all this great stuff to try from SunRype and She Speaks. I thought it might be well liked in my home, and to say it was would be an understatement! It was LOVED and fought over, and gone quickly. You should have seen the "negotiations" my kids were doing to try to get the last one! Seriously! It was a little funny and a little sad.

Let me tell you a little about the SunRype company. From their website:

At SunRype we're proud to say we use nothing artificial! Our 100% fruit snacks contain naturally occurring fruit sugars. The great taste of SunRype also comes with no artificial flavors and no artificial colors because we know that what's not in our fruit snacks is just as important as what is.

I want to tell you all about all the items we tried. First I will tell you about these gems, the Fruit Stripes:

These are basically the perfect kids snack! We were sent the Strawberry and Wildberry flavors to try. Both were really good! The kids loved these the most. They were especially excited about the fact that they are tasty AND fun-they peel apart like pull n peel licorice. It was funny to watch my 6 year old literally trying to hide these for snacks later before the other kids could get to them. I took a couple pictures of my youngest 2 kids enjoying the first of these (before everyone else came home from school):

And what does mom love about them? Well, first, they taste GREAT! I wanted to hide some for me too...But on top of that, they are 100% fruit-no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. (Note to ANDREA-no Red dye in there babies!!)

The second product we tried was the FruitSource 100% Fruit Bars:

As their website says, Fruit snacks aren't just for kids. And as I would tell you-these are like fruit snacks grew up! We got to try the Blueberry Pomegranate and Strawberry varieties. Both were scrumptious! And just like the Fruit Stripes, these babies are 100% Fruit! Plus, these bars, have 2 servings of fruit in each bar! TWO!

The last product we got to try was the Just Fruit and Grains bars:

This was my favorite! We got to try the Strawberry Mango and the Summer berries varieties. They are bars that are 70% fruit and 30% grain. JUST fruit and grains.

I was certain I would like the Strawberry Mango best (as I love both those fruits), and found I did like them, BUT the Summer Berry flavor was EVEN BETTER!! LOVED it! I could really eat these anytime and be a happy camper! I would eat them instead of a cookie or sugary sweet treat ANY DAY! LOVED these a lot!

Have you tried SunRype products yet? If not, go, go now and get some! You can thank me later! If you have tried them, you should go show them your love by Liking them on Facebook! Oh, and ALL of you should check out their Facebook deal too!

Hey-by way of disclosure, I should tell you that I was sent $40 worth of free products from SunRype and She Speaks for the purposes of this review. I did not receive any other compensation. AND as always all opinions expressed are my own!

#Dial Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash Review

Oh how I love being a Purex Insider! It gives me the chance to try not just Purex products, but also products from other great companies! Most recently I was sent some AWESOME Dial Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash and I want to tell you all about it.

I have to admit, I was out of town for almost the whole month of December and I did not get to try out the awesome foaming soap until I returned. And it is a shame really, because they are SOOO cute and decorative for the Christmas holiday! Check out the 4 limited edition holiday designs:

I was lucky enough to have them send me the Santa one and the Christmas tree one:

Let me tell you about the product (from the information they sent me about it:

Each decorative designed bottle contains Dial Complete's #1 doctor recommended Antibacterial foaming hand wash. The formula kills 99.99% of germs encountered in the household setting and is still gentle on skin.

And Now to tell you about my experience with them: First, as I mentioned before, I LOVE how cute and decorative they are! I know the holidays are over, but I like to have holidays in my house year round, so we are totally using them, and they look SO cute in our bathrooms!

But honestly, the thing I like BEST about them has nothing to do with the cute holiday packaging. It is all about the soap. To be honest, I am not sure which smell is in those bottles, but I think it is cranberry, and let me tell you is smells AWESOME! I actually hate washing my hands too much because my hands get so dang dry, but I find I am washing my hands way more now that I have these bottles of foaming soap that smell fantastic! I love it so much! Plus I have always been a fan of the foaming hand soaps, so that is a huge bonus for me as well!

I know the limited edition ones may not be available (they might be on clearance though so keep an eye out!!). I totally recommend checking out the Dial Complete's #1 doctor recommended Antibacterial foaming hand washes though. Even without the cute holiday theme, if you are anything like me you will still love them!

Want more information on Dove? Check out their web page www.DialSoap.com or go like them on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/dial. Of go do both, and make sure to check them out next time you are out shopping! Pick up a bottle, I think you will be happy with your purchase!

By way of disclosure, Dial provided a free sample of their Holiday Foaming Hand Soap so I could review them. However, as always, all opinions expressed are my own!

SAFESKIN review and #giveaway ends 12/12/12

I truly love doing reviews. I love it. So i was so happy when I was asked to review SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel

The SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel is pretty awesome. we have used it before. It's been a long time though, so I was excited to try it again.

Let me tell you a little bit about it from their website:

SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel is a long lasting protective barrier for applying to minor cuts, scrapes, burns and creates a barrier for MRSA — up to 48 hours!
  • Trusted by Hospitals
  • Barrier to MRSA
  • 48 Hour Antibacterial Protection
  • Made in the U.S.A.
  • Non-greasy for stronger bandage adhesion

With 5 kids we have a lot of cuts and scrapes and burns and bruises in this house. So I was sure I would have plenty of opportunity to try this out. However in some miracle during the time we've had this in our house we have not had a single instance where we could use it. I had hoped to show you some great day before and after pictures of using this product but that's not going to happen. What I can tell you is that in the past we have used it before and we have liked it it has lived up to what it says it will do.

I did you some of the SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel on my own skin just to see what it felt like a test it out. I usually use neosporin for cuts and bruises. One thing that always frustrates me when using neosporin is how hard it is. It's difficult, in cold weather especially, to spread it on a wound. Especially with young kids for moving around and don't want you to put it on. However this product solve that problem beautifully. It is nice and soft to the touch when you squeeze it out of the tube put on your skin it feels all nice and it definitely has a protective barrier to it. I really like how it felt and thought it would be excellent to use.

You can buy some SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel at most Walmart stores. Head over today and you can print a coupon for $1 off here: SafeSkin coupon.

And guess what?  One lucky Beckee's Deals reader will win one (1) tube of SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel!

See rafflecopter below to enter:a Rafflecopter giveaway Please note that the giveaway will end on 12/13 at 12:01 AM EASTERN time. That means you have until 11:01 PM on 12/12 Central time to get in entries (That is only 10:01PM here in AZ).  Please note that winners will be picked at random by Rafflecopter after the giveaway ends!  Also, Facebook is not affiliated with this giveaway and cannot be held responsible for it in any way.

By way of disclosure, I received a package containing the following: · One (1) tube of SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel · One (1) $10 Walmart Gift Card And In addition one (1) tube of SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel will be provided as a prize for my giveaway winner. No other compensation was given, and as always all opinions expressed are my own.

Farm Rich Review and Giveaway (YUM)

I love food. I really do! I find myself feeling jealous when other bloggers get to review and try awesome products and I don't. So, I enter their giveaways and I buy stuff and I wish it was me reviewing that awesome food! One of the items I have been jealously stalking on other blog reviews is Farm Rich products! So, when the contacted me a while back to do a review/giveaway, I was excited beyond words!

They sent me 2 coupons for FREE products. I headed to the store and began my search in the freezer aisle to choose which 2 awesome products I would try. Should I get the famous Mozzarella Cheese Sticks or maybe go for the Mozzarella Bites or the Queso Cheese Bites?   Maybe I should get the Mini Pizza Slices or the Stuffed Pretzel Bites? But honestly, the Jalapeno Peppers, the Mini Quesadillas and the Meatballs all looked amazing too...

What did we Try?

Really I should never go shopping hungry. I could not limit myself. I got the Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, the Stuffed Pretzel Bites, and the Meatballs...on that trip. (I have been back for more...) (Not all items made it into my picture-sorry)

What did we think?

Well, it is an understatement to say we liked them. We loved them. My kids have asked for them (all of them) over and over again since we tried the first bag. You might say they had us at the first bite. Really. Let me tell you about them one at a time:

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks: OK, this was the fan favorite at the Johnson house with the children! My oldest son asks for them EVERY DAY after school since he tried them. He told me that these Mozzarella sticks paired with his favorite spaghetti sauce is the perfect food! My second son is quite a picky eater and often will not eat what I prepare for him. I made these as a side to go with spaghetti one night and he ate and ate and ate. He loved them and it was not a fight to get him to eat dinner that night! The other 3 kids also loved them and would eat them anytime, anywhere and would consider it a real treat!

Stuffed Pretzel Bites: Though the Mozzarella Sticks were the clear favorite overall, these were a close second, and the favorite for my oldest daughter. Well, really for both my daughters. My oldest daughter really loved that the cheese was inside so it was less messy "especially for the younger kids."  I agree with her on that, and they taste great! I really liked these a lot and would happily have them as an after school snack or for a party or to watch a football game, or for whatever other daily use you can think of! I would note that you need to make sure they are cooled off enough before giving them to kids after cooking them because the cheese can get pretty hot! Just to throw that out there. :)

Meatballs: This was the mom favorite for  making my life easier! What a quick easy way to make an everyday meal (for us Spaghetti with sauce) extra special for the kids! Just adding the meatballs to my sauce rather than using ground hamburger made the kids so much happier (and it was so much easier for me). My son that hates sauce, willingly ate it with the meatballs in it! And I would note that the flavor of the meatballs is fabulous! We tried both the original Meatballs and the Italian Style Meatballs, and liked both!

Marlow and the Monster: Review & Giveaway Ends 10/26

I love to read. I really do. I especially love children's books. I LOVE them.

Many of you know that I was a drama teacher as a career (in a previous life before kids). But you probably don't know that my minor was is reading. That's right, reading. When I found out I had to have a minor for my degree, I looked around and discovered that with a reading minor I got to study lots and lots of children's books and tactics to teach them. SCORE!!

So, I have read a lot of children's books in my day. And as I said. I love them! I am always excited to discover new children's books which is why I was SO excited to be contacted by author Sharon Cramer to review (and give away) her new book Marlow and the Monster.

First, let me tell you about the Author and the book, then I will tell you what I thought and tell you how you can enter to win your own copy!!

Who is Sharon Cramer?

Sharon Cramer is the author/illustrator of the award winning children's series called Cougar Cub Tales. She has also written and released a full length novel and is currently working on another YA title, due for release in December! She owns Talking Bird Books, and is an indie published author. Marlow and the Monster is here newest children's book release.
She is also so great to work with! So nice-she signed our copy of the book with inscription to my 5 kiddos! They LOVE that!!
What is Marlow and the Monster about?

Marlow and the Monster is about a boy, Marlow who has a monster pestering him nightly in his room. His parents do not see the monster and (as we all say to our kids) they are always telling him there are no monsters! One night Marlow gets so fed up that he brings the monster into his 4-year-old sister's room. She is scared at first, but ultimately, she helps him figure out what to do with his monster!

What did I think?

And as a mom, I am always glad to find a book that can help a child deal with a problem. We have a lot of monster problems at this house, especially with my oldest son and his VERY active imagination. As a younger child, he had a different monster in his room every night. And to him, his monsters were every bit as real as Marlow's monster is to him. As parents we just told him things like "Well, talk to the monster and try to be his friend then he won't seem so scary." We wanted to give him strategies to deal with his monsters. I love that this book also gives the child (Marlow) a way to deal with his monster. And I especially love that it is his little sister that helps him find a way to deal with the monster. That really made my Kindle (my 4 year old girl) happy! The story is sweet and gives children a way to think about dealing with their monsters that should make them less scared.

Without giving away the whole story, I will say that my only criticism of the book is that I felt there was a transition missing from the second to last page to the last page. I can make the leap in my head, but it just feels like there is a transition missing. The point is made that the problem is solved, but I just felt there was a leap there like I missed something.

One more fantastic thing I want talk about is the illustrations. They are fabulous! Just look at this page where Marlow brings the monster into his sister's room:

Isn't it fantastic?!  To quote the info I was sent, Cramer said that the book is "My first trip onto the wild side!" It is illustrated with quill pen and ink and the only splash of color is the monster because "Only the children can see him."

Where can you get Marlow and the Monster?

You can get the book on the Talking Bird Website here or you can find the Kindle eReader edition and hardback copy on Amazon (just click the links to get to them). (The Kindle eReader edition is only $.99!!!)

Can you win a copy?!

Well, yes! In fact you have a chance to win a copy! One lucky Beckee's Deals reader will win a hardback copy of Marlow and the Monster. For your chance to win, just enter on the rafflecopter form below:

a Rafflecopter giveaway
Please note that the giveaway will end on 10/27 at 12:01 AM EASTERN time. That means you have until 11:01 PM on 10/26 Central time to get in entries (That is only 9:01PM here in AZ).  Please note that winners will be picked at random by Rafflecopter after the giveaway ends!  Also, Facebook is not affiliated with this giveaway and cannot be held responsible for it in any way.

Dry Idea Review and GIVEAWAY ends 9/13

Wow-in the process of moving a lot of crazy happens! Here is one of those things! I was sent s great product to try out and to giveaway that took some time to get to me due to moving and all the fun that goes along with changing addresses. So, I will just go ahead and tell you about this product and do this giveaway now that I have everything and have had a chance to test it out.

Here goes...

Let's talk deodorant for a minute...I am generally not a very sweaty lady. And my husband is allergic to all the deodorants and antiperspirants we have found (thus his obsessive showering multiple times a day). So, (dare I admit this), I rarely wear deoderant or antiperspirant. However, moving to the hot, HOT state of Arizona has made me a lot more sweaty..a lot. And a lot more stinky. Also, I have a 9 year old girl that is going through puberty. She noted a few weeks ago that he thinks her body is now having some stinky BO that we should deal with. So, my daughter and I were happy when we got to test out Dry Idea.

I was sent a sample of the Advanced Dry Roll On. I am not usually a roll on deodorant kind of gal when using deodorant, but I wanted to try it out. What I usually do not like is the feeling of a wet product going on. However, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it did not bother me. I put on the deodorant and found it did not bother me at all. It dried quick and then I did not feel stinky throughout the day. I was very happy with the results. I was particularly pleased that it was unscented so I did not have to mell roses (or whatever) wverytime I had a slightly sweaty moment! It just smelled fresh and not stinky! ( You can get it in Unscented, Powder Fresh or Cotton Dry-so find the one you like!)

We got my daughter the same product to try and she loved it (and we noticed it made a difference in the BO she was so worried about). She has tried a few different deodorants in the past year and this one she liked enough to ask for it over and over.

I recommend giving it a try and for 3 lucky Beckee's Deals readers, you can try it for Free!! Check out the giveaway below:

Giveaway: 3 readers will each win 1 coupon good for 1 Free 3.25oz or smaller Dry Idea AdvancedDry! Just enter below on the Rafflecopter form (or you can enter on my FB page instead.)

a Rafflecopter giveaway

As the Rafflecopter says: Please note that the giveaway will end on 9/14 at 12:01 AM EASTERN time. That means you have until 11:01 PM on 9/13 Central time to get in entries (That is only 9:01PM here in AZ). Please note that winners will be picked at random by Rafflecopter after the giveaway ends! Also, Facebook is not affiliated with this giveaway and cannot be held responsible for it in any way.

***By way of disclosure, Dry Idea provided a free sample of their Advanced Roll-On for this Review as well as the 3 Free coupons for the giveaway. However, as always, all opinions expressed are my own.***

FAM Farm Laundry Soap Review and #giveaway!! (ends 4/5/12)

Boy am I excited to share with you this FANTASTIC product I got to try out (and one of YOU will also get to try)! It is Homemade Laundry Soap from The FAM Farm and it is awesome! I love the product, and even more, I LOVE supporting a "mompreneur". Let me tell you about it!

What is it?

As I said, it is homemade laundry soap. And this is what The FAM farm website says about it:
Made with all natural phosphate free ingredients, safe for septic system, low sudsing for GE washers, gentle enough for baby clothes and your other 'delicates' and yet is works so hard on tough stains and smells--including the smell of cat urine, something no other laundry detergent I have ever used has been able to do.

This soap is the what they mean when they say 'big things come in small packages' because each load only requires 1 TBS--even in our super capacity 4.3 cu ft HE washer

(the soap ships in BPA free bags, but this picture is to give you an idea of how much, the Quarts contain 64 loads, the pint contains 32 loads--once the soap arrives you can always put it in any airtight container you want, or leave it in the baggie)

What did I think?

Well. I must admit, I was a little leery. As I have mentioned many times, we have some very sensitive skin in this house, particularly on my husband and my 5-year-old son. These guys can hardly use any soaps (gentle baby soap only), one is allergic to sunscreen, and one is allergic to deodorant. Both break out in terrible rashes often (especially when I change soaps or laundry detergent). So, I was a little worried about changing up their laundry soap. Meagan (the mastermind mom over at The FAM Farm) knew about the sensitive skin and even before sending me any products to try, she asked a lot of questions about what has and has not worked for the guys here. She took great care to make up something for us that would work! And the results were fantastic.

Right before Meagan contacted me to review her soap, Mr Beckee's Deals had started to become sensitive to the laundry soap I was using. The poor guy was so rashy and he couldn't stand the itch that was everywhere (his clothes, the sheets, EVERYWHERE). So, unbeknownst to him, when I got my The FAM Farm soap, I switch on him. I did not tell him, but he was complaining less about rashes. I asked him about it and he said it seems to have gotten better. Booh Yeah! The new Laundry soap worked!

Oh and guess what? It smells good! And it gets out stains and still keeps my delicates nice. Needless to say, I liked it. A Lot.

Where can you get this awesome product?

Well, Check out The FAM Farm website where you can order your very own Laundry soap, She has other great products as well (like some dishwasher soap I also tried and liked). Soon she will be making goat soaps and will be using essential oils from a company called Doterra. She is an IPC for them and you can check out her page there as well: MyDoterra page for Meagan.

Also check out her Facebook Page, and her new blog.

What can you win?

One lucky Beckee's Deals reader will win 2 sample soaps of their choosing (which is the the same thing I got)--2 bags each containing 16-32 loads of laundry soap and/or automatic dishwasher detergent. To enter, just use the rafflecopter form below (it may take a minute to load):

Because I Tried it Birthday Chronicle Review

I am a sucker for sentimental/memory items. I love photo books, journals, baby books or really anything like that. Trouble is, I am not that great at keeping them. In fact I have had 5 children, and the I tried to remember to get a newspaper from the day each one was born, but guess what? I only have one from the first child. So, when I was asked to review a Birthday Chronicle from Because I Tried It, I was ecstatic.

Let me tell you a little about Because I Tried It.

First and foremost, they provide Personalized Gifts for Anyone, Anytime. I reviewed their Birthday Chronicle, but that is just one of many, MANY items they have available. Check out the extensive list of personalized products here. Oh and by the way-they will get your personalized gift to you via email within 48 hours. Yeah-it's that quick!

Let me tell you about my Birthday Chronicle!

I decided to use my birthday for this review (because I could not choose which kid to do). Check out the Chronicle:

I love that is includes things like who was President, Famous people that share my birthday, who won the Academy Awards that year, and What my Chinese New Year symbol is (Horse). It has a lot of interesting facts and is presented as a newspaper front page. Oh and did I mention I had it in my email the day after I sent the information out? It was SUPER FAST!

I really like my Birthday Chronicle and will probably order one for each of my children's birthday's as well. It is so perfect for a baby book!

Let me tell you where you can connect with Because I Tried It.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Naptime Nanny Review & #giveaway ends 2/29

Look at the little gems of awesomeness that arrived in my mailbox yesterday:

I cannot express how much I love discovering (and reviewing)great products! Especially when I get to do a giveaway along with them and share the awesome product with one of you. This particular product is one I had not heard of until I was asked to review it, and boy am I glad I was asked! What a fantastic product!

What is it?

Naptime Nanny products are CD's with over an hour of naptime quiet time stories. The first 2 volumes contain fairy tales and the third has Christmas stories. This is what Naptime Nanny says about their products:

Naptime Nanny strives to provide teachers and parents with quality tools for helping young children experience a quiet resting time through a medium that allows the child to assimilate important life skills without interfering with the resting process.

What did I think?

Let me first tell you all that my little Kindle Cat (my 3 year old) believes she is too old for naps. I disagree. However, I usually don't make her sleep, because instead of sleeping, she screams and keeps the baby awake during his nap and causes all kinds of grumpiness for the day (from both me and the baby). When my older kids are home, I send them to read quietly in the afternoon when the baby naps so I can get things done, and he can sleep. However, Miss Kindle cannot read and would much rather harass her baby brother.

This afternoon, as with most afternoons, the older 3 kids were at school, and Kindle , baby and I were home. I needed to get some painting done for the house, so I needed the kids to be "napping". Kindle was not going to go for that today, so I told her I had a really neat new CD for her to listen to quietly. We turned it on and for the next hour or so, she was completely enthralled. She listened quietly and loved the stories. She did not bother the sleeping baby at all!!!

She would like for me to tell you all that the CD's were "Great!" (She listened to the first 2 today already and we will whip out the Christmas one tomorrow-by her request).

I liked that the stories were told pretty traditionally, but with little modern updates. Like in Goldilocks, when she got lost, she had learned her address and phone number, and was just looking for a place to use a phone to call home (or to call 911 and get help from the police). It gives real life examples of what kids SHOULD do.

I also loved that parts of the story that kids may not know were explained. Like "Goldilocks" was called "goldilocks" because her hair was yellow like gold and locks is another word for hair. There are also moments where the storyteller on the CD says things like "Of Course, as I am sure you have figured out..." I love that it gives the kids credit for having likely figured out where the story was going in advance.

Where can you get these gems?

Check out all three great CD's on the Naptime Nanny website. (You can even hear a story sample here.)

What could you win?

One lucky Beckee's Deals reader will win one of the 3 Naptime Nanny CD's (of the winners choice). NICE!

#GIVEAWAY (ends 1/20) @Purex Crystals and @Jockey terry sports bra

I told you earlier today how much I love being a Purex Insider. I have had some great opportunities, and this might be my favorite! Purex and Jockey have teamed up!

Why you ask have the 2012 Jockey Tech Terry Performance Sports Bra and the 2012 Purex Crystals teamed up? Well, Did you know that normally you should not use fabric softener on performance sportswear because the oil content prevents the wicking process? Well, you CAN use the Purex Crystals fabric softeners because they do not contain oils!!

What are these products?

The Jockey 2012 Tech Terry Performance Sports Bra is a performance sprotswear for working out. It has moisture wicking to keep you cool and dry (LOVE), a key pocket, reflective logo, breathable mesh panels and a soft bottom band for comfort.

The Purex Crystals fabric softener are a favorite at this house (you can read my first review of it here). We have tried all the different smells and love them all. I am so glad to note that my favorite, the Tropical Splash, is back. These sweet little crystals can be used on baby sleep wear, athletic cloting with wicking and really just about any washable fabric because they contain no oil!

What did I think?

Let me start with the Crystals because my opinion of these continues to be fantastic! I like them more and more the more I use them! And I am not the only fan in the house. My kids LOVE them-even more than I do. In fact, when I was in Chicago a few months ago with my husband, they ran out of crystals and freaked out! My sister who was watching them said she actually went to get new crystals (though she had been avoiding the store entirely with all the kids) because the kids were so concerned that the laundry REALLY NEEDED them! So, I think I can safely say we are fans at the Beckee's Deals house!

I do want to mention that there is a promotion that I love on the Purex site right now where you can "Find the Yellow to Win Green." That means if you go to Purex here and search for the yellow bottle (Tropical Splash) near you, then you can enter to win some moolah!

Now about the bra. First, LOVE that I got a black one! I just  like it-personal preference I guess!

Second, you may or may not be aware that I have a 9 month old and I am nursing him. And, I am not a big fan of nursing bras. At this point he is not nursing that often (usually), so I just wear a "normal bra" and pull it up to nurse. This can get tricky with the hard underwire on my bras, but he doesn't nurse that often during the day. Usually...BUT, the child has chicken pox. (Yes chicken pox-you read that right) and he is nursing almost nonstop this week. So, my regular bra started to hurt. Boy, was I glad to have this new Jockey bra! It fits comfortably and the soft bottom makes it so I can nurse my baby without being in pain and without wearing a nursing bra.

Last, I have been trying to work out and lose this baby weight until about a month and a half ago when I sprained my ankle. Well, it is still a bit sore, but I am now going back to the gym. This bra is perfect for those sweaty workouts. It is REALLY comfortable, the wicking really works well, and it is surprisingly supportive (surprisingly only because it is so light and thin that I doubted it's support value-my bad).

So what is the deal?

The deal is, I recommend this bra for anyone that might have a sweaty job ahead, or if you just want a comfortable sports bra! Best part? Right now you can get 20% off this great sports bra. (To get the discount just go to the link.)And when you are picking up a 2012 Jockey Tech Terry Perfoemance Sports bra, stop by and grab one of my favorite products, the Purex Crystals! They are both great products and when paired together seem to be a match made in heaven.

Can't Wait to Try these? How About WINNING them?!

Purex Triple Action Detergent (review)

Have I mentioned (a lot) how much I adore being a Purex Insider? Seriously. I am a Purex fan and to get to try out their newest stuff, tell you about it and often give it away to you is just awesome!!! Today will be a big Purex day because I have gotten a few sweet new items to tell you all about! Right now I want to tell you about this product:

This is the Purex new Triple Action formula (which is available across the entire liquid detergent line).
To quote the info I was given, "This new and improved Triple Action formula delivers even better on Purex’s promise to leave your clothes bright, white, and clean, and as always, for half the price of the leading brand!"

FYI, part of the reason I LOVE Purex is because it works so well and is SOOO affordable! I have ALWAYS loved that about Purex! They are committed to watching out for our pocketbooks as well as delivering great products which is why they have been figuring out this newly improved formula that not only is improved in how it works, but still stays affordable! As they say "It’s an even better clean, for half the price of the leading brand. New Purex Triple Action leverages the best parts of our current formula, combined with new additions, to deliver great cleaning plus improved brightening power."

I have had the chance to use the Free and Clear version at my house for the past month or so. It has been fabulous! A few things I noticed. I did not need to use as much detergent as I need to with some other detergents I have tried. We do a lot, A LOT of laundry here with 7 people in this house. When I saw the size of the bottle, I thought it might last a week or two. But like I said, we have been using it for a bit over a month. (It is at the end of the bottle now)

Also, I am not sure I would really notice a difference in brightness, but I have noticed out clothing looks better. I am not a queen if laundry. I do not have the time or patience to spot and fix every detail. Often my kids do not even tell me if their clothing needs extra attention. And I am often so hurried to get the job done, that I forget to check. We have had to get rid of a lot of clothing from just staining. I have found that I have had less of that this past month. Not sure if the kids are making less spills or if it is the detergent or both, but I have noticed less of a problem this month.

We always use the Free and Clear because we have some kids (and a dad) with really sensitive skin. This works beautifully to keep them from breakouts!

I am so happy to tell you that coming up in a few weeks here, Purex will be bringing back one of my favorite things, their “Prove it to yourself” campaign. They think you should have the chance to try this out yourself. No reason to take their word for it, you can take YOUR word for it! When that promotion returns in February, I will make sure to post a reminder with a link to the page for you to request your own sample to test out!

But in the meantime, if you are looking for a great affordable detergent, check out the Purex new Triple Action formula. It is great-you can take my word for it! :)

***I am a Purex Insider and was given a free bottle of this product to try out for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was given, and as always all opinions expressed are my own!***

Freeze It Hairspray (Review)

With myself and 2 lovely young ladies here at the Beckee's Deals house, we deal with a lot of hair (ironic since Mr Beckee's Deals is bald...). Anyway, the ladies of the house all have long hair. My 3-year-old still has that fine baby hair that looks lovely with very little effort, but my 9-year-old, Salsa, and I both have a big problem with FRIZZ! Especially in this humid city of Omaha, Nebraska! Oh how I loathe it.

So, when I heard about the chance to try out Freeze It hairspray, I jumped at the chance. Why you ask? Well, because, according to the back of the bottle, Freeze It will "lock in your look for an all day style" because it is (and I quote):
  • Humidity Resistant (JUST what I need)
  • Quick Drying
  • Non-Sticky
  • Non-Flaking
  • Enhanced with Optical Brighteners
Wait, hold the phone...Optical Brighteners? What? Again, According to the package "Optical Brighteners make brown hair richer, red hair brighter, black hair shinier, and blond hair more true to color by increasing light and color reflection. Improves and enhances all types of permanent and natural hair color."

OK! This sounds like just what Salsa and I need! Salsa specifically asked for a way to make her frizzy parts of her hair stay down that is not sticky and will hold all day! I would just like to resist the humidity (so I can avoid looking like a frizzball).

So, we put it to the test...

My girl has frizzy hair that often ends up looking like this:

However we were able to spray down her hair a couple different days and styles. One day we put her hair back in a ponytail and the other day she wore it down. And even after playing during the day, her hair looked like this the first day:

And this the second day:

A marked difference in the amount of frizz and in how styled her hair looks at the end of the day. Salsa noted that is was not sticky, so it met her expectations! (You can see she liked it as she hugs the bottle...)

I had to go out to a storage unit and check out some things in the wind for about an hour or so on a fairly humid day, so I thought it was the perfect chance to really test out the hairspray. In the morning before I left, my hair looked like this:

After over an hour of wind and humidity outside, it looked like this (without any brushing or styling at all):

A few fly away whispies, but overall, not much of a difference! Sweet! It held up to my test!

We really liked the Freeze It spray in our tests, but I like it even more knowing that Freeze It has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and sales of their special edition pink cans will go to benefit the Foundation. I love when companies support good causes! I feel like I can help support a great cause while selfishly choosing a great product anyway!! :)

You can find a variety of hair care products from Freeze it, including this sweet hair spray at retailers like Walmart, or you can order online from places like Amazon.

This review was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.
