Reader Question: Where do I FIND coupons?!

Recently I had a reader ask me about where to find online printable coupons. I realized I have not talked about that much lately. This is the short and sweet post to answer that question. First though can I just throw in that I highly recommend getting the Sunday newspaper so you can clip the coupons in it?!  Now, for online coupons, I get most of my coupons from Coupons.com. Other places to look are Smart Source and Red Plum.

Also if you are looking for a specific product or brand, check their company website and facebook page. There are OFTEN the best coupons there.  And one more trick if you are looking for a specific item is to check a coupon database where you can type in the name of a product you are looking for and it tells you whether there is a coupon out there for it. It also tells you the source of the coupon and often they are printable, so you can just print out a coupon for whatever you need to buy. I do know that there have been a couple times when I knew about a coupon that I did not find on their database, but most of the time I find great coupons hat I need! The site I use most is at Hot Coupon World and you can find it here.

Online Coupon Database...check it out!

I really want to tell you guys about an awesome site that I recently found! It is a coupon database where you can type in the name of a product you are looking for and it tells you whetehr there is a coupon out there for it. It also tells you the source of the coupon and often they are printable, so you can just print out a coupon for whatever you need to buy. I do know that there have been a couple times when I knew about a coupon that I did not find on their database, but most of the time I find great coupons hat I need! The site is at Hot Coupon World and you can find it here.

Kmart double coupon event coming soon!!

Wow-I am excited about this one! Kmart is having a double coupon sale from April 4-10!! In case you are not sure what that means, it means that they will double what you save with your coupons (for coupons up to $2). SO, if you have a coupon for $2 off diapers, during that event, you will actually get $4 off the diapers! Obviously this means you can get some great deals!

I would start collecting and saving your coupons up for items you buy. Look especially for high value coupons that can double! And just FYI, some coupons say "Do not double" on them, so watch for that as those coupons will not work.

So, I highly recommend getting the Sunday newspapers so you can clip the coupons in it! And there are great online resources as well. I get most of my online coupons from Coupons.com, Smart Source and Red Plum.

Sadly, not all Kmart stores are participating, so check here to see if your local KMart store is participating.

Thanks Clippin with Carie.

$100 in savings from P&G

I would not be much of a coupon blogger if I did not mention this to my readers. Collect your receipts from 2/1-4/15 for any Proctor & Gamble products you buy (there are a LOT of brands that are P&G). Once you have bought $50 worth of P&G products (can be on seperate receipts, but the $50 total has to be before tax and after coupons) you send in the receipts with their fill out form. Once you have mailed it in, they will send you a coupon book with $100 worth of coupons! Please see the details (and the link for the form) right here.

**Get a year of All You magazine for $15 through Amazon

Have you heard of All You Magazine? I had not heard of it until I started reading frugal blogs, then it seemed like that was all I heard about. It is a magazine available only at Walmart or through subscription, and frugal bloggers/couponers LOVE it because it is chalk full of coupons! Based solely on the recommendations of other bloggers and the lists of monthly coupons on their blogs, I recently subscribed, sight unseen to All You when I heard I could subscribe for a year through Amazon for only $15 (that is $1.25/issue).

My subscription will not start until the March or April issue, but I had a coupon for $0.50 off the Feb issue so I bought it to check out what I had gotten myself into. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were there tons of coupons (including one "Try our Product free" coupon), but there are lots of recipes and fun family friendly ideas for Valentines. It is a really fun magazine that has tons to offer someone like me! So, if you, like me enjoy getting coupons and recipes and great family ideas, I HIGHLY recommend taking advantage of the Amazon offer included above in this post. Just click on the link and check it out! I am excited for my subscription!

**Walmart Deals

Well, I would like to start out this blog by pointing out a few things. One, I am NOT a coupon diva, I am in awe and amazement that people actually spend so little on groceries and essentials. Two, I am still a newbie at all this, and I get really excited about deals that may not seem as impressive as the ones you might see on the great frugal blogs around. Three, I was out of basically everything and this was quite a stock up trip-I do not plan to get much (but maybe milk) again for at least a couple weeks. Four, There are some things I simply had to buy that were not a great deal.
That being said, I want to give you a few stats about my Walmart trip. I used 2 different money-saving tactics: I Price matched and used coupons. I did something I have never before done and had to drag around 2 kids and 2 carts. I had a couple of returns to make so I got a gift card for $28.83 when I arrived. I bought 86 items. I figured out that before price matching my total bill would have been around $285. But with all the pricematches, the total was $245.33. Then I used my 40 coupons bringing my total down to $181.72 (plus tax brought it up to $186.36). I used my $28.83 gift card and spent a total of $157.53 out of pocket. So, I went from $285 total to $157.53-AWESOME!! (Of that $17 was 20 lbs of rice, $20 was meat, and $15 was a game I was getting to replace the game I had to return)

I want to tell you about some of my favorite deals here in the pictures (not all the purchased items are pictured.)

In the picture above is:

  • 4 12-packs of Diet Coke (Pricematch 4/$9, $3 in coupons so total was 4/$6)

  • 4 12-packs of Diet Code Red Mountain Dew (Pricematch 4/$9)

  • Post Raisin Bran ($2.50 on sale minus $2 off coupon=$0.50)

  • 2 8th Continent Soy Milk ($2.73 minus 2 $1 off coupons=$1.73 each)
