Wow-that email today was out of control long!! Sorry about that! You have probably noticed that the emails are having some trouble-yesterday they did not send, and today it sent the uber-huge email of the world with emails dating up to a week back. Woah! I have been working on this problem all day and was able to get the emails to send again, but with problems. I believe I have now fixed it so that tomorrow will be "normal" again. I will continue to watch and monitor and fix this problem as necessary! Thanks for your patience!

FYI, I thought you might like to know that I have now written over 1000 blog posts on this blog!! WHAT?! That is crazy! I cannot believe I have written so many already! I guess I should do something to celebrate 1000 posts...maybe since this is a deals blog I should get a freebie or go find a great deal?!

I also wanted to quickly let you know that I have many more great deals to post including my list of favorite grocery deals in town, but I will not get to post those probably until this afternoon. My son has a preschool try-out this morning and we are getting ready for that now. I promise more great stuff will be up laer though!

Some of you might remember that I never got my Oreo cookies from the Facebook fan giveaway even though I signed up on time and registered. They had some issues with that giveaway, and in fact, people (who felt entitled to their freebie) wrote some nasty things on the Oreo Facebook fan page. I felt frustrated and sad that I did not get the Oreos, but I feel like freebie is a priviledge, not something I am entitled to. I never EXPECT a freebie. But at the same time, I DID sign up for it so I really wanted those free Oreos.

I had a choice, I could leave nasty messages on their wall (like MANY others did), or I could try to go about it another way. I decided to try to be an adult adn I decided to email the company directly and thank them for doing the giveaway, and let them know that I was among the number of people that signed up, got confirmation that I was getting a free box of GOlden oreos, but them never got it. I explained that I was a bit frustrated by this and wondered if there was anything I could do to get at least a coupon.

I did not hear back from them...not until this week when I got a very nice letter int he mail with a coupon for ANY free Nabisco cookie or cracker box up to a $4.19 value! Wow-better that the original coupon where I could only get the vanilla Oreos (I am a major chocolate girl when it comes to Oreos)!

WHat is my point? Two things really...One, you really DO catch more flies with honey, and 2 NEVER be afraid to contact a company and let them know about what you think about their product or customer service, or whatever! Just be honest and polite (even when you are complaining be as nice as you can handle).

I know a long time ago I told you all about this, but I thought I would let you new readers in on the joke. I have a personal (private) family blog, and as a sort of joke, I wrote the subtitle to that blog as "Where the beautiful people come." Well, when I started my bookclub blog, I continued the joke by writing "Where the beautiful people come to find a good book!" So, naturally, when I started this blog, I had to mention the obvious fact that this blog is (of course) ""Where the Beautiful People Come to Score a Deal"!

Wow what a week it was! We drove the 14 hour drive (that was actually 19 due to a nightmare-ish 5 hour stop in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming-the picture above is of a few of the other cars stuck there with us) to Salt Lake to see our families last week and boy was it great! We had a good time visiting our families and ended up driving home last night without any major problems (those of you that know me well know that this is a HUGE accomplishment-I am the worlds unluckiest traveler!!). I was pleased to get home so easily!! And now that I am home, I am back to a more consistant routine and will be posting more on here again! Thank you all for you support and patience while I was gone!

A few people have asked me if I actually go to all the sales and get all the freebies (I do not, but I try to get the deals I need and I sign up for almost all the freebies). I have also been asked whether these freebies actually work. (YES, but not always!)

Now, it takes a while before you start seeing things in your mailbox. Often, I get something in the mail that I have forgotten ever requesting. So, to keep track a bit better of what works, I have started going back in my blog posts and putting two stars next to the post name of all the posts where I have seen the product or personally gone shopping for or gotten that deal. Now you can see what deals are working for me. Just in case you wondered...

So sorry to be behind today-As some of you know I am PTO president elect at the kids school and today was an all day meeting at the district for a committee I am on! Have you noticed the new Favorite Pages box on the Beckees Deals page on Facebook? It currently has 2 favorites: Houseparty.com and Swagbucks.

Swagbucks has enabled me earn point that I can trade in for gift cards. It has been GREAT! You can read more about what it is and how it works here, and you can sign up for it here. Highly recommend it!

Houseparty.com is a site that I am relatively new to. On this site, you apply to host various parties, and if chosen for a party, you get a party pack supplied to you for your party. I am super excited to tell you all that I was just accepted to host my first party, a Sandwich Revolution with the star ingredient being Arnold/ Oroweat Sandwich Thins. I am so excited for this luncheon with great food, fun sandwich ideas to share, and lots of great company! Some of you locals probably already got invitations to the fun and will hopefully be able to make it! I am so excited for it and cannot wait to see what kinds of yummy "Gold Medal" sandwiches we can come up with! In case you are new to couponing like me, I thought it would help if I posted about where to find online printable coupons. Also, I highly recommend getting the Sunday newspaper so you can clip the coupons in it!

I get most of my coupons from Coupons.com. Other places to look are Smart Source and Red Plum.
