Some Events around Omaha in May (take note of May 15)
7:29 AM
When we moved back to Omaha 2 years ago (wow-was it really that long? time flies), we bought our first house. And as it turns out, we had the best relator EVER! In fact, if you are looking to buy or sell a home, I highly recommend talking to him, Mark Ciochon. (You can see his website here.)
Why do I bring this up now, you ask?! Well, he keeps in pretty good contact with us and sends us flyers of events and happenings in Omaha, updates of the market in Omaha, as well as just little notes now and then. Yesterday, I got one of the happenings in Omaha postcards, and there are some fun things coming up. No, they are not all free, in fact most are not, but I wanted to let you locals know about some of the upcoming events around. Thanks to Mark Ciochon for the card and information! Here are a few of my favorites:

No, they are not all free, in fact most are not, but I wanted to let you locals know about some of the upcoming events around. Thanks to Mark Ciochon for the card and information! Here are a few of my favorites:
- Saturday May 1: celebrate Arbor Day at Lauritzen Gardens. According to Lauritzen's website: "Families can enjoy a morning of fun activities dedicated to trees. There will be tree activity stations for families to learn about a variety of tree subjects such as bark, leaves and fruit. Family tree walks will also be offered at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Each family will receive a free tree seedling while supplies last. Registration is not required, and all activities are free with paid garden admission or membership." So you DO pay regular admission to the Garden, but then all the extra activities are free!
- Saturday May 1: celebrate Cinco De Mayo with the 25th Annual Parade on 24th St starting at 10 am. There are a number of other event going on in conjunction with this. Please see their website here. As a note, we have friends that participate in this parade every year and it is the highlight of the year in their home! We have not been yet, but it looks like a blast! And the Parade is free to view!
- May 1 & May 2: Nebraska Renaissance and Medieval Pageant at the Bellevue Berry Farm. Not free, but looks like a blast. According to their website though you can get a family pass (for a family of 4) for $25, which is a good deal! Make sure to check out their website.
- May 15: My House Party BBQ/daughter's birthday party. 11:30 am until we are done with the fun! FREE, just bring a side dish!! :) If you want to come, email me and let me know! (beckeesdeals@gmail.com) (Sorry, I could not help but include that!!)
- May 15-16: Lauritzen Gardens annual Spring Festival and Plant Sale!
- May 16: Cyclefest, FREE public event at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. You need to check out the info here. Some of the highlights are free helmets (while supplies last ) and free bike checks for kids 15 and younger! We SO need to take out kids to this-you do need to register for this FREE event. Read all about it here.
- May 22: Omaha National Martial Arts Championship at Millard South High School. call 402-215-6003 for more information
- May 31-September 10: Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog at Omaha Children's Museum. (Not free, but I am sure a lot of fun for the kids-I am sure it is free with membership though if you have one!)
