Our Halloween Freaky dinner

So, I promised you that I would share my spooky Halloween dinner. I did not yet. Whoops. I will tell you though it was awesome.

We ate Monster meatloaf, Ghost mashed potatoes, Jello Worms, and Goblin toes (fried pickles). It was a delightful meal if I do say so myself! Here are a few pictures taken by my handsome husband:

And of course Wes (my handsome husband) could not help but take the parts of his meal and make a creepy monster man out of them:

It was a fun and yummy meal! I L.O.V.E making theme holiday meals! Yumm-O!
If you would like to know how I made any or all parts of this meal, comment or shoot me ane email. If there is enough interest I will post it on here-otherwise I will just respond to individual requests. I just don't want to spend the time to type it all out unless it is something you WANT (since it is a deals blog after all not a recipe one).

Where in the world is Beckee J? DISNEYLAND...well, I was...

I owe you all a big fat apology and explanation. Last week was complicated and I knew it would be. I knew I would be unlikely to be able to post, but I could not explain because one of the big complicated things I had going on was a surprise. A surprise for a lovely young lady that reads my blog!
Let me explain. This is my youngest sister Melanie:

She is about to leave on an 18 month religious mission for our church. Before she leaves, she wanted to go to Disneyland with our baby brother. In fact they have been saving up for this. Well, my dad decided we should surprise her and have myself and my sister Andrea show up at Disneyland. As it turned out, due to work schedules and stuff, I was only able to go for one day-Friday.

So, I boarded a plane with my baby boy on Thursday evening at 7 pm, and after a layover I arrived at LAX at about midnight (that's 2 am in my time zone). I took a Super Shuttle to my hotel in Anaheim and arrived there about 1:20am (3:20 my time). I tried to get the baby to sleep so we would be well rested when they family arrived at like 8am. It did not work.

I managed to surprise my brother and sister. Check out this ultra blurry picture of their surprise as they saw me and baby E:

We spent a very cold and rainy and gloomy day at DL and California Adventures. We left a bit early since we were all soaked to the bone and cold and I had to feed my baby (who was already at the hotel with my parents). I rested and took care of baby for about 2 hours before we had to turn around and head to LAX again for me to return, I got took the red eye which left LAX at 12:45am (LA time-2:45am my time) and had a layover then finally arrived home at 10:30 am. Phew-it was a fast and furious trip!

In spite of the tight time restraints and the gloomy weather, I had a great time and was glad to get to spend the day with my family. Sadly my sister Andrea and I were unable to go the same day out there so she arrived in LA as I arrived back home on Saturday morning. They had a blast the rest of the weekend though I hear (with great weather). Here are some of my fun pictures from my day away:

Thanks for sticking with me and continuing to read my blog. I have a lot to catch up on!

I got #OldNavy Outerwear #FREE Thanks @OldNavy and #CrowdTap

Generic125x125

A While back I joined Crowd Tap (which is a place you get to share your opinions and sometimes even get to sample awesome items). One of the places they work with is Old Navy and I joined hoping to sample some SWEET Old Navy clothing. You may remember that after applying and not getting to sample anything, I was finally chosen to do an Old Navy Sample Share through Crowdtap. You can see my review of that here. It was a blast! I could not wait for another opportunity!

Lucky for me I did not have to wait long!! I was lucky enough to be chosen to to an Old Navy Outerwear Sample Share! Yeah! So I grabbed Jessica and we ran over to Old Navy yesterday to pick out some new coats!

Both of us had our babies with us had out babies with us (ages 2mo and 7 mo) Our poor children had to sit through a lot of their mommies trying on stuff! There were so, SO many great Outerwear options!! There were like 6 coats I really liked, and 3 I LOVED and had a hard time choosing between. Jessica had a similar experience. Before I show you some of the cute options we tried on, let me throw out a quick shout out to the employees at the Village Pointe Old Navy on Omaha, Nebraska-SOOO nice and helpful the whole time! Helping us grab coats and sizes and telling us how cute they were and all kinds of great service (without being totally obnoxious)! It was great!

So, here are some of the coats Jessica and I tried on that we didn't choose in the end:

Jessica actually LOVED this white coat below but wondered about the functionality of having a white wool dry clean only coat with a new baby around.
In the end she did end up with a Dry Clean only coat still, but it is not white so may not be so tough to keep nice with kiddos around. And I must say, I am a HUGE fan of her choice (it was my top choice initially but they did not have it in my size at that location):

I came down to three favorites. For me living in the Nebraska biting cold windy winters, this absolute favorite Red riding hood coat was totally not functional for my purposes. But I LOVED It and deliberated long and hard over it anyway:

This long black coat was warm and cute and probably the best options for a functional warm coat to last through this Nebraska winter. It was REALLY warm. I thought it's only downfall was a lack of a hood, but the neck went up high to cover your neck so that was great!

BUT in the end I actually went with a less functional than the last coat, but more functional that the Red dream above. It was a bit more of a fashionable choice than I usually make and as a mom of 5 kids I usually shy away from Dry Clean only clothing, but this coat was simply irresistible in the end:

If you also want the chance to become a Crowd Tapper so you can sign up for future sampling events, please join through my referral link here and we can start tappin together! :)

***By way of Disclosure, I was given a coupon for me to get a free ON Outerwear item, as well as a free coupon for a friend. Thanks CrowdTap and Old Navy for this fun experience and these free coats for me and Jessica!!***

EASY, FAST, FRUGAL (creepy) Halloween Dinner!!!

I L.O.V.E. doing fun holiday themes dinners for my family! And to be honest, I tend to go a bit overboard! In fact, tonight I am going all out (I promise I will share it later). This Halloween I had so many ideas for great creepy Halloween themed meals! But I have to admit as I was researching online there were tons of search results that pointed to making "worms" for dinner-out of Hot dogs. You will not believe how easy and frugal this creepy Halloween dinner is!! After looking at a bunch of online ideas I put mine together like this:

I chose not to serve on buns as my kids don't like that. Here is what I did.

1. Cut up Hot Dogs into strips (I cute each one into 6ths)
2. Boil sliced hot dogs in boiling water for just a couple minutes until they start to curl.
3. Take out of water. (Maybe strain it to make sure there is not excess moisture)
4. In a frying pan melt about a Tablespoon of butter.
5. Add the curling hot dogs and a Tablespoon or 2 of Ketchup (to your own taste and vision-they look creepy with the ketchup)
6. Fry for like a minute or 2.
7. Serve as you wish (I just served a bowl or worms-you could serve worm sandwiches or something if you want!)

Here is Mr Beckee's Deals (Oh he will love that I called him that) trying out the worms:

This was a well loved EASY, QUICK, FRUGAL meal that YOU could totally give your kids tonight before you they go out and get all that sugar!!

Tonight's dinner includes Monster meatloaf, Ghost Mashed Potatoes, and Jello worms. Here is a preview of what they look like:

I found the Jello recipe on Pinterest. It originated from the blog The Idea Room. Go check it out! It is AWESOME!
